SPOTLIGHT:
Daniel Hammer
Daniel began his journey in the hearth industry at the young age of 18, following in his brother’s footsteps. Over the years, his passion for the industry has only grown stronger, and he’s more committed than ever to helping it thrive. This September marks a significant milestone for Daniel—25 years in the industry—demonstrating his unwavering dedication and extensive experience.
Throughout his career, Daniel has worked for several notable companies, including Craft Stoves of Mount Vernon, Craft Stoves of Everett, Anderson Fireplace, and Sutter Home & Hearth. He has held a variety of positions, starting as a Warehouseman and working his way up through roles such as Installer, Salesperson, Sales Manager, Service and Installation Manager, Branch Manager, General Manager, and now Owner. As such, Daniel’s story is a testament to the amazing opportunities that the hearth industry can give people who are looking for a career path.
When asked what advice he would offer to others in the industry, Daniel emphasized the importance of personal commitment. “The work you are doing matters,” he said. “Commit to your customer, your company, and your industry. If you work somewhere that doesn’t appreciate that, don’t lower your standards and stay; keep your standards high and find somewhere in this industry that does value what you have to offer. Trust me, we are out there. If you give to this industry, it will give back to you.” When asked if there was anything else he’d like to share, Daniel responded with this line from The Abolition of Man: “ἐν δὲ φάει καὶ ὄλεσσον.”
Outside of work, Daniel enjoys spending time with his family and friends whenever he can. He also likes working on his home, traveling, and listening to his 8-year-old son lecture him on the intricacies of The Legend of Zelda.
In short, Daniel’s long-standing commitment to the industry, his in-the-trenches career path, and his dedication to maintaining high standards make him an outstanding contributor. Thanks for all the hard work you’ve put into this publication, Daniel. The entire Fire Time Network appreciates your wisdom and insight!
